Application of Photosensitizing Agent
Either Levulan (Blue Light Therapy) or Ameluz (Red Light Therapy) is applied to the affected area, where it is absorbed by precancerous cells.
Incubation Period
The medication is left on the skin for a prescribed period, allowing it to activate within the abnormal cells.
Light Activation
The treated area is exposed to blue light (Levulan) or red light (Ameluz), which triggers a reaction that selectively destroys precancerous cells.
Healing and Regeneration
Over the following days, the treated cells slough off, revealing healthier skin underneath.
Post-Treatment Care
Patients receive aftercare instructions, including sun protection measures to optimize healing and prevent recurrence.
