Signs and Symptoms of Rosacea

Rosacea is a very common skin condition. People who have it usually notice they are more likely to feel flush or to blush than others as well as experience increased redness and acne breakouts; the condition itself has been called middle-age acne. Here at Gold Skin Care Center, we encourage you to learn more about this condition and what you can do to combat it.

Symptoms

The symptoms of rosacea are persistent redness and acne-like bumps on the chin, forehead, nose, and cheeks. More intense cases may involve puffy cheeks, a reddened nose, and broken capillaries on the surface of the skin.

What Can I Do About My Rosacea?

At our clinic, we are proud to offer IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy in two forms for the treatment of this condition. The Lumenis M22 is a state-of-the-art option designed to address hyperpigmentation, telangiectasias (spider veins), fine lines, skin tone, and rosacea. The Aerolase Lightpod Neo is made to address telangiectasias and other leg veins, as well as rosacea.

We can combine treatments to address your specific case of the condition depending on the severity of it. A topical antibiotic cream such as metronidazole can be helpful, as can oral antibiotics, which may work faster. We must advise limited exposure to sunlight and the faithful use of sunscreen.

What is the Cause of Rosacea?

It is not currently known what causes rosacea, although some circumstances and stimuli can irritate the condition. Some of the ones known are coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, sunlight exposure, psychological stress, and various caffeinated beverages. Rosacea is also associated with menopause, and the condition does tend to manifest more in women than in men.
